Olubisi Osinbajo says even though Professor Yemi is Nigeria’s vice president, she still scolds him
– She noted that she does so because no matter how old or big he gets, he is still her son and needs guidance Olubisi says she also always prays for her son even though he is a pastor himself For all Nigerian children who think they are too old to be scolded by their parents, Olubisi Osinbajo, the mother of Nigeria’s vice president Yemi Osinbajo, says she still scolds him at 61. Olubisi told Punch in an interview that his being so old and Nigeria’s number two citizen does not stop her from rebuking him when he makes a mistake. “Yes, I do (scold him) and on occasions like that, he calls me ‘Mummysco’. It doesn’t matter how big they are now, they are still my children,” she said.
Olubisi said she prays for him as much as she can. “I pray for him every minute; even when I see him on TV. I always tell God to take care of him,” she said. “We don’t like politics. My husband and I also told our children not to partake in politics. However, Femi was once a councillor. But he later resigned and returned home. He said he could not cope with them. “When we heard of Yemi’s own, we knew that it was God that put him there. Since then, we have been praying; I cannot rest again.”
